Chinese is like lego.

The role of a teacher is to disconstruct the language.

In Mandarin, if you learn the first character (the head), you can work out the rest from there.

It might help to learn the history of the character.

This may give you an additional point to remember the word. It might give it the x factor rather than the ex factor in the memory bank.
